On March 15th, we stopped meeting in our building, but the Church is still the Church. It just expressed itself differently. In the very beginning God, Himself said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” We are made for relationship. So, it’s been difficult to not meet together. One of the good things that has come out of this time is the realization how important the other people in our lives are!
The Governor stated that churches in the State of Indiana can meet again. So, we sent an online survey this week to find out what you were concerned about and if you are ready to meet again. The Elders of the Warsaw Missionary Church and I have decided that we will resume in person worship this Sunday, May 17th. This is not a full “going back to normal” schedule. It is more of a measured “crawl, walk, run approach.” So, here are some of the main points for moving forward. You can see all of the details on the “Re-Opening Plan.pdf.”
We will have a Family Worship Service at 10:00. We are asking that families sit together. We are not offering Children’s Church or Nursery at this time. The sermon will be videotaped and shared through our YouTube channel. We also offer “parking lot” attendance. You can listen to the whole service through your car radio. Just tune it to 96.5. (This only works in the parking lot.)
Our Sunday service will look a bit different as we practice social distancing. People will enter the sanctuary at the main door and through the coffee area. The exits will be along the restroom hallway. Doors will be propped open when possible. We will not pass an offering plate. An offering plate will be located in the sanctuary so that you can give your gift there. Rows of chairs will be six feet apart. There will be more aisles, but they will be one-way aisles. So, basically, we are spreading things out. We will not print a bulletin. We will email one to everyone by Sunday or you can download it once you arrive.
We are asking that you don’t congregate in the foyer at this time. Congregating there makes it hard for people to move through the area while social distancing. You may congregate in the sanctuary or outside as long as you don’t impede people from accessing a door or an aisle.
If you have been sick or been in contact with a sick person in the last two weeks, please stay home and continue to worship with us online, or from your vehicle. We will not require masks to be worn inside our building, but you are more than welcome to do so. We will have ample hand sanitizer available for your use.
Classes and Wednesday Ministries
At this point we will not be having classes meeting on Sunday mornings. We will begin again once we think that it is wise and we have a good process in place to be safe. At this time, Youth Group and Awana will continue with videos and Zoom opportunities.
We appreciate all of you who responded to our survey! We have listened to your opinions while deciding the best course of action moving forward. Please be assured that our commitment is to help the Warsaw Missionary Church be effective in its mission and, at the same time, provide the safest environment for you and your family. We may make additional changes as they become necessary.
